Maternity Clothes Guide and Favorite Brands

See this content in the original post

Normally I’d list exactly which items of clothing you need for your pregnancy, but the truth is that it’s so dependent on your lifestyle and work life. I worked in a business/corporate job when I was pregnant and will make a list of my favorite items. But I’ve also added a list of my favorite brands organized by price and category so you can pick and choose for your lifestyle and budget.

Take an inventory of your current clothes and figure out which ones are already loose/flowy and will grow easily with you throughout pregnancy. I had many items that worked for me well into my late 2nd trimester.

Recommendations

  • 2 pairs of yoga pants - I recommend the type that goes allllll the way over your belly.

  • 1-2 pairs of your favorite regular jeans “one size up” - Most Women start to “show” around 12-20 months. I bought a “one size up” of black and regular jeans before I bought maternity jeans.

  • 1-2 pairs of maternity jeans - I preferred the ones that go all the way over the belly - the shorter ones with elastic around the sides worked earlier but would often fall down

  • Consider renting for special events - we got invited to a black-tie wedding when I was pregnant and I rented a gorgeous sequined gown from rent-the-runway since I didn’t think I would need a maternity gown in the future. I also rented a more boho-style gown from Mama Bump Rentals for my maternity photos.

  • Solid colored maternity tops - I am a fan of a capsule wardrobe so I recommend solid colored tops for maternity so that you can easily mix and match
